The First Severn Estuary Shoreline Management Plan
A Shoreline Management Plan for the Severn Estuary was completed in November 2000. The strategy covered the shoreline from Lavernock Point in Wales, to Haw Bridge near Gloucester, to Brean Down, west of Weston Bay in England.
The aim of this first generation Severn Estuary SMP (now known as the SMP1) was to provide a basis for sustainable coastal defence policies in the Estuary and to set out objectives for the future management of the shoreline over a 50 year period.
